Narampady : D’Souza Family in Need of Helping Hand
Daijiworld Public Service Release
Mangalore, Oct 4: It is often said that when God gives He gives in abundance. But when He takes away, He takes even the little what we have. This may not be true in everyone's case. But people who undergo this phase often are left with no words but only tears. At times situation becomes so grave that even there are no more tears left. Even a smooth sailing boat may be in trouble if raging waves of problems and difficulties rise all of a sudden. Though this situation may come in anyone's life at anytime, it is really unfortunate to see the poorest of poor at times being largely affected.
This could well be said of Maurice D’Souza and Eva D’Souza and their children Rolphy and Vinod hailing from St John De Britto Church of Narampady, which comes under the jurisdiction of Mangalore diocese; however it is under the administration of Kasargod district of Kerala.
Both Maurice and Eva are daily wage workers earning a meager livelihood. They don’t have their own land or a house, in-fact not even a ration card.
Mark & Oliver
The nightmare of February 14, 2007 will haunt this family for an entire lifetime. Their two youngest sons Mark and Oliver met a watery grave after accidentally falling into an open well. This not only shattered the entire family but even resulted in affecting the health of Eva. Today she is very sick without being able to come to terms with the tragedy that occurred almost 8 months ago. Rolphy and Vinod are however, studying in a nearby high school, thanks to parish priest Fr Sunil D'Silva.
People of Narampady (85% coolie workers) have contributed to buy a plot of land of 5 cents for this family and already have registered the land in their name. The foundation stone was laid for the construction of the house. Speaking to Daijiworld parish priest Fr Sunil stated that the entire project of construction of a decent house as well as meeting some medical expenses of Eva and academic needs of Rolphy and Vinod would cost around Rs 3 lac. Since most of the local populace hail from an economically poor background, it is nearly impossible for them to rehabilitate the family. The parishioners under the leadership of the parish priest have applied for the state fund as well as approached the panchayat. But nothing has been assured on an immediate basis.
Therefore the entire parish community of Narampady has urged Daijiworld readers to give a helping hand in rehabilitating Maurice's family. Being aware of the generosity of the Daijiworld readers, they have appealed for generous contribution towards this noble cause.
