Mangaluru: Veteran businessman Basti Narayan Shenoy passes away

Mangaluru, Apr 7: Veteran businessman Basti Narayan Shenoy passed away on April 7 evening at his residence in Mangaluru due to old age. He was aged 82 and had been ailing for some time. .


He is survived by his wife Lalitha, sons Sudhir and Sunil and daughter Sabitha.

A scion of the reputed Basti family of Mangaluru, Basti Narayan Shenoy was born on 16 April 1934. His career was spent in business as a wholesale rice trader at Bunder and his firm ‘Ramdev Enterprises’ was one of the leading rice dealers of this region.

A socially committed person, he had for many years served as the President of Canara High School Association which manages 16 educational institutions in the city, including Canara Engineering College, Canara College and Canara High School.

He was also a dedicated member of Lion Clubs International and had formerly served as the President of Lions Club Mangalore Main.
