Mangalore, Oct 8: The long-awaited dream of Sikh community in the city was realized with the installation of Gurudwara at Mannagudda here on Sunday October 7.  Guru Granth Sahib, the Holy Book of Sikhs which was brought from Vasco-da-Gama in Goa was formally declared installed as Ranjeet Singh and group sang verses from the Holy Book.  The 48-hour non-stop recitation of verses came to an end on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Balwinder Singh, vice-president, Sri Guru Singh Sabha Society said that Sikh community urged the district administration to hand over the land for the construction of Gurudwara, which was sanctioned by the government.

He further said that the district administration was yet to follow the orders of the government to hand over the land to the Gurudwara society.

People from other communities extended helping hand for the installation of the Gurudwara, but only the officials are creating problems, Singh added.

He further said that people who are creating hurdles should realize that Gurudwara is not restricted to one particular community.

Great news, for the Sikh community in our native place. They are one of the true warriors and hardworking people. It is evident in the fact that you can't see any Sikh begging anywhere in India. My hearty wishes to all of them who reside in and around Mangalore. I pray, Wahe Guru to make them more prosperous.
