Mangalore, Oct 9: The training and felicitation programme for the newly-elected Congress corporators in the last Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) election, was held at Sandesha auditorium on Monday October 8.
J R Lobo, former MCC commissioner and deputy director of KUIDFC/KUDCEMP, was the resource person of the training.
Ramanath Rai, president of district Congress Committee, in his presidential address said that the administration of MCC was in the hands of Congress party for many years. The party has rendered good service to the citizens without burdening them with additional taxes. However, in the changed scenario of BJP being at the helm of civic body affairs, the newly-elected Congress corporators have significant responsibility as leaders of the opposition, he advised.
The corporators should not give any scope for misunderstanding among themselves. In case of any problem, the DCC president should be informed. Besides this, the corporators should also exhibit commendable unity during the MCC proceedings, he added.
Congress leaders Kallige Taranath Shetty, Suresh Ballal, Moideen Bava, Tejomaya and M G Hegde, were present on this occasion. Ivan D’Souza compered the programme.
