Karkala, Apr 14: The two-day silver jubilee celebrations of Christ King Educational Institutions, Karkala began on a magnificent note on Thursday April 14.
The celebrations began with a colourful procession led by the school band and artistes presenting various forms of cultures from the Ananthshayana to the Gandhi Maidan where the cultural function took place.
Parish priest of Christ King Church Fr Joswey Fernandes presided over the stage programme.
In his welcome speech, Prof Narayan Shedikaje said, "Due to the hard work and efforts put in by Fr F P S Moniz, founder of Christ King School and trustees Avelin Lewis, Peter Fernandes, Walter D’souza and Lucy D'Lima, the institute has grown in every aspect from the past 25 years. The institute has never given thought to commercialization, but instead focused on imparting quality education. Parents as well the students have collaborated together with the teachers to present such a beautiful programme."
Minister Vinay Kumar said, "The Catholic Education Board with its unique style of discipline has achieved an exceptional feat in the field of education in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district. The Catholic missionaries have set up schools in remote places of both the districts and have provided education to the poorest.
"I appreciate all the correspondents and trustees for their constant efforts and hard workd in bringing up this institute. At this moment, let us dream of new goals and make plans for the upcoming golden jubilee in 25 years. Let children prepare for their future right in their schooling age. Let this institute be a platform for the students to reach new heights," he said.
Minister Abhayachandra Jain and KPCC member Mohammed Masood complimented the school on its recent achievements.
'Silver Line', a magazine was released by Fr Joswey Fernandes to commemorate the silver jubilee celebrations.
Sr Madonna proposed the vote of thanks while Rekha Santhosh and Divya Shubhada Rao compered the entire session.
The stage function was followed by the cultural programmes by the students.
During the cultural programme, performances by the Bhargavi Team, Udupi and Kudroli Ganesh mesmerized the audience.
Avelin Lewis, secretary and trustee, Peter Fernandes, trustee, Walter D’souza, trustee, Christ King Educational Trust, Prof Narayan Shedikaje, principal, Christ King PU College, Sr Madonna, head mistress, Christ King English Medium School, Robert Miranda, president (primary level) and John Sudarshan, president (college level), parents and teachers association were also present on the dais.
