Udupi, Apr 17: “A new high-tech city municipal council (CMC) building will come up near old taluk office in Udupi soon on a land measuring one acre. The project proposal of Rs 16.5 crores has been sent to state government,” said the new CMC president Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje in a meeting held on Sunday, April 17 at Satyamurthi auditorium. She also briefed about other projects during the occasion.
“The present CMC building will be used for commercial purpose. The new building will have adequate parking space and commercial shops,” she said.
“CMC has taken up many development works for which we have enough funds. A DPR for Mini Vidhana Soudha was done and it will be sent to government soon. A new library will be set up at a cost of Rs 5 crore near town hall Ajjarakad on 12 cents of land. A new commercial complex will come up at Gopalpur ward, Santhekatte at a cost of Rs 148.32 lac under ITDSMT fund. The tender has been called for the construction of Vishweshwarayya commercial complex under PPP model.” She added.
“The construction of well equipped fish market and interlock for parking place has been taken up from the coastal development authority grants. A tender has been called for the construction of Vindro compost shed at Karvalu at a cost of Rs 2 crore. The council had preliminary discussion about supplying purified water to UPCL plant. I will try to bring transparency in the administration by following online system." Meenakshi concluded.
