Mangaluru, Apr 18: The road from Mallikatta to Nanthoor circle, stretching 350 meters concreted at a cost of Rs 285 lacs, opened for traffic on Monday April 18.
The newly-concreted road was inaugurated by district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai.
In his address Rai said, "This is a very important road in Mangaluru. The project was undertaken with funds from the chief minister's third phase of Rs 100 crore grant for development works. We are developing a model road from Nanthoor to Nandigudda which will be completed shortly. All these developments will benefit the commuters in the city."
MLA J R Lobo thanked the mayor, MCC commissioner and engineers for completing the work on time and said, "We aim to develop four-lane model road from Nanthoor to Nandigudda. Accordingly, we have completed a stretch from Nanthoor to Mallikatta and work on Kankanady to Nandigudda stretch is under progress. A few works like streetlights, drains, footpaths and other facilities will be completed very soon. This will give a new look to the city."
Mayor Harinath, MCC commissioner Gopalkrishna, corporator Ashok D K, Denis D'Silva, Purushotham Chirtapur, Asha D'Silva, T K Sudheer, Sabitha Misquith, Stany Alvares , Pius Rodrigues and others were present.
