Bantwal, Apr 22: In a shocking incident, an electrician, who had climbed an electric pole to repair power connection, was electrocuted. This tragedy occurred at Naduvalachil in Veerakmba village in the taluk on Thursday April 21.

The deceased happens to be Suresh Poojary (29), son of Narayana Poojary from Naduvalachil near Kelinja in Veerakamba village. He had rented a house at Naduvalachil and had planned to shift his residence there on Friday. As he found fault with the power cable supplying electricity to his new home, he had climbed the electric pole to undertake repair to set right the problem.

When he was working on the problem, the service wire he was working on accidentally came in contact with high tension cables, as a result of which he suffered violent electric shocks. Suresh fell down from the pole. Arrangement was made to take him to the community health centre at Vittal but he breathed his last before he could get medical help.

It is gathered that Suresh remained lying on the ground after falling from above for quite sometime, as no one came forward to take him to hospital. After sometime, a driver arranged to take him to hospital, eyewitnesses stated.

The deceased had earlier been working at Mangaluru. Since sometime, he had set up a shop named 'Amma' near Kelinja, and worked as electric repair contractor. Suresh had married about a year back, and his wife is expecting delivery in a few days. His wife, who was preparing to welcome a new member to the family, is in a state of shock at this sudden turn of events.

Vittal police and Mangaluru Electricity Supply Company officials visited the spot and undertook investigation. A case stands registered about the incident in Vittal police station.
