Mangaluru, Apr 28: Dattatreya Hosbale, national joint general secretary of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Thursday April 28 said that communists do not believe in the one-nation policy and have a 'clear-cut' policy to 'break' the nation. He also asserted that Kashmir is an integral part of India, and that without India, there can be no Kashmir.
Delivering a lecture on 'Nationalism, Essence of a Nation' organized by the Mangaluru chapter of Citizens' Council at Sanghaniketan here, Hosabale commented on the JNU issue and the 'Azadi' slogans raised in the campus and said, "What might be the mentality of those demanding freedom? This is a communist ideology. Communists never considered India as one nation, they have always compared it to the soviet nations and treated India as a multi-nation state. They also created literature and started publications claiming that India is not a single nation, and because India is home to various languages, they created literature based on linguistic nationalism. On this basis, they are claiming that Kashmir has the right to become independent. This shows a clear cut conspiracy to break the nation into pieces.
"This is the kind of divide-and-rule policy of the British where they created the false theory of Aryans and Dravidians. Even the new generation studied the same false Aryan invasion theory even though it has been proved false again and again culturally, linguistically, archeologically.
"The myth of Aryan invasion has not been wiped out from the minds of people. Today people who are supporting the thoughts emanating from JNU are Left ideologists who defend the 1947 partition which was done on the two-nation theory based on religion.
"In JNU slogans were raised which also echoed in Jadavpur University where the students raised demands for freedom of Manipur, Kashmir and freedom for every part of this country. It was depicted as if India is ruling us, ruling Kashmir, and north east, and that we should be able to enjoy freedom. What is India? India is not a soviet union, India did not come into existence like USSR where the nations were brought together by Russian leaders. In the past 60 to 70 years we have failed to give a clear concept about the nation to the new generation through education or public discourse. There is a planned strategy behind this," he said.
On the concept of nation, he said, "To be a Rashtra (nation) three factors are essential - first, people themselves are the nation; secondly, the land which is called fatherland or motherland by the people; and third, the philosphy of life, culture and values. These factors make a nation. What is the nationalism of India? How can Kashmir be separated? It is an integral part of India. The so-called India has never invaded the so-called Kashmir. About 70 years ago there was no Pakistan, so how and from whom are they demanding independence? Without India there is no Kashmir and without Kashmir there is no India. Kashmir is a part and parcel of the great ancient land called India. Today, because of wrong concepts, false debates and conspiracies, questions are being raised on nationalism.
"Nationalism is not a territorial or geographical concept. Nation is a cultural concept. Culture is not only about music, dance and drama - these are just expressions of culture. Culture is the expression of the soul of the nation, and spirituality is the soul of nationalism. Nationalism is not a political concept. It is a cultural way of life with common aspirations, a common past. Those who raise questions on nationalism either do not know the history of the nation or do not want to accept it because they have an agenda and a conspiracy to execute," he said.
Madhava Jogithayya, proprietor of Vinayaka Agency, Sunil Acharya, president of Citizens' Council Mangaluru and others were present.
