Udupi, May 17: “The contractors are owed more than Rs 8 crore in dues for the work done in Udupi district. Emergency work related to water should be completed immediately. But no contractor is ready to do government works," said Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje speaking to media persons after the vigilance meeting at zilla panchayat office on Tuesday, May 17.
"State government made announcements on releasing drought relief funds, but it has remained in words only. There has been no development in three years. The state is does not managing Annabhagya, Ksheera bhagya and Shadi bhagya properly. Congress party members are involved in malpractices. Government provided milk is not qualitative and hygienic. Children do not want to taste milk at their schools at all. These schemes have been introduced for the sake of vote bank politics," Karandlaje added.
“There are only few Shadi Bhagya beneficiaries in Udupi. The government has given only publicity for these schemes without taking the schemes up to a mark. CM Siddaramaiah has announced crores of rupees in the budget for developmental work. He should submit report on the money spent for implementation of the projects. The government is against development. If any scandals come to light, CM will tries different tactics to get away from the issue. Ministers are not available at their constituencies and also at their offices. They are not taking up any tour programmes,” she said.
"Drought management is not so good at all. It is miserable. If it does not rain in the next 20 days, there will not good crops. Chief Minister does not use relief funds released from Central government. There are 17 MPs in the state. MPs are ready to join hands in the development of the state. But the CM has not convened any meeting of MPS since 2013.Congresss MLAs themselves expressed their disappointment about administration. Minorities are neglected by the state,” she continued.
Evaluating district in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake’s political performance, Karandlaje said "He has failed miserably in the exam. It was not possible for him to bring more funds from the government as late V S Acharya brought. "
"Ministers’ sons have been involved in sand mafia causing crores of rupees loss to the state exchequer. A new sand policy should be introduced to prevent illegal sand mining." she concluded.
