Bantwal, May 19: District Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths have taken the village accountant (VA) of Punacha grama in custody on Thursday, May 19 for demanding bribe for transfer of land records in the name of new buyer.
Punacha grama village accountant Ranjith is the suspect of demanding bribe.
Details of the incident
Nagaraj Bhat who had bought land at Kambalimoole of Punacha grama had submitted an application for change of account about one and a half month ago. He had also paid Rs 500 in cash but Ranjith had not moved the file of transfer. He used to give excuses when reminded about it. When Ranjith was requested again for the transfer of records, he put forth a demand for Rs 6,000 as bribe.
Nagaraj Bhat in this respect had complained to the newly formed Anti-corruption Bureau. An operation was conducted under the guidance of ACB western range SP Chennabasavanna by ACB Inspector Yogish Kumar and his team on Thursday morning. Accused Village Accountant Ranjith was caught red handed and Rs 6,500 received as bribe also was recovered.
ACB Inspector Yogish Kumar has said that the accused will be presented in the court for further action.
ACB DySP Sudheer Hegde, Inspector Dinaker Shetty, Head constable Rakesh, Radhakrishna and Umesh participated in the operation.
Inspector Yogish Kumar said that this is the first raid by newly formed Dakshina Kannada Anti Corruption Bureau.
