Bengaluru, May 20: State health and family welfare minister, U T Khader, reiterated that Yettinahole project will be implemented in Toto irrespective of impediments it might encounter. At the same time, he said that the government will be undertaking an initiative to ward off apprehensions and doubts the people living in the coastal region have about the project.
Reacting to questions raised by media persons about the resistance the above project is facing in the coastal belt of Karnataka, Khader, who was at Vikasa Soudha on Thursday May 19, said that the people of the coastal districts will be convinced about the project before implementing it. He said that he has already requested the chief minister and irrigation minister to convene a meeting of people's representatives, anti-Yettinahole leaders, and religious leaders from the region to clear all misconceptions.
Khader pointed out that Yettinahole project had been approved by the legislative assembly and work is in progress. Therefore, he said, there is no question of suspending works at this point. At the same time, he agreed that efforts to clear the air of wrong impressions about the projects need to be made. He also concurred that effective alternative measures like executing Paschima Vahini project should be undertaken simultaneously.
