Mysuru, May 24 : H D Kumaraswamy, former Chief Minister of Karnataka said on Monday that a dalit woman who had been to meet chief minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru on May 17, during his Janata Darshan was humiliated.
Kumaraswamy addressing a press conference said the woman went to meet Chief Minister accompanied by her two children. “Besides making her wait for as long as till 8 pm, she was packed off to a women’s rehabilitation center at Madivala. “She was warned that she would be disrobed, handcuffed and sent to the Parappana Agrahara jail. Her husband, an auto rickshaw driver was severely beaten and the owner of the auto rickshaw was asked to remove him from the job. I will be summoning her to the Vidhana Soudha on Tuesday to narrate the incident before media”, he said.
The JD(S) leader said that the High Ground police in Bengaluru stated that the woman was found to be suspicious and was thus sent to a rehabilitation center. “The government is apparently forcing women to be prostitutes,” said Kumaraswamy.
