Book on achievement of state government in 3 years, released

Mangaluru, May 24: District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai released the book 'Sadhaneya Mooru Varushagalu' based on three years achievements of the Congress government in the state and listed out the developmental projects in the district, at a press meet held at deputy commissioner’s (DC) office here on Tuesday, May 24. He also questioned why cannot the protestors wave black flags on Sadananda Gowda and Yeddyurappa who initiated the Yettinahole project.
Addressing the media persons, Rai said "Ever since the Congress government has come to power, it has worked towards social equality and has implemented many developmental schemes. About 85 percent of the promises made in the manifesto have been fulfilled. Ration cards have been distributed to about 20,695 families. Under Anna Bhagya scheme, about 696.809 metric ton of rice and 143.411 metric ton of wheat to Antyodaya card holders, 3151.903 metric tons of rice and 777.914 metric ton of wheat to BPL card holders has been distributed free of cost. Under Kshira Bhagya scheme 10, 8825 government school students and 69,752 aided school students are being given milk to drink. About 11, 4069 day care centre (Anganavadi) students are given Kshira Bhagya milk."
"For girl students who are pursuing education in order to increase their attendance, about Rs 22.53 lacs is released for 4,820 girl students as a supportive grant. Students who have enrolled under RTE are given Rs 3.59 crore reimbursement. In order to promote dairying, Rs 4 per litre subsidy is given to 32,343 dairy farmers are given a total of Rs 2071.09 lacs supportive price in our district alone. Under Bala Sanjivini scheme about 178 students are given treatment. Fifty bedded Ayush hospital is sanctioned in Wenlock hospital and out-patient facility will start at the earliest. In Dakshina Kannada district for the year 2015-16 under supportive price, 884.9 quintal seeds and 3,142 ton organic compost has been distributed. In the district about 1,052 drinking water projects are undertaken. Under natural disaster until March 2016 about Rs 295.43 lacs has been spent." Rai added.
"Under social security schemes about 1,07,052 beneficiaries are being given monthly pensions. Under 94C scheme about 7,486 cases have been given sanction. Under the loan waiving scheme, about Rs 30.49 crores loan has been waived. Under the Vidyashree scheme, grants of Rs 340.5 lacs for students of backward community and Rs 456.84 lacs for minority students are given. Under Bidai scheme, Rs 468 lac assistance has been given to 936 beneficiaries . In Dakshina Kannada district, three electricity substations of 33/11 KV have been installed. In the district about seven multi village drinking water projects are under progress. In the third phase of 'Namma Grama Namma Rasthe', a 77.38 KM road has been constructed. In MCC under the third phase of Rs 100 crore, about 169 works are undertaken. To develop the naxal hit areas, Rs 413 lacs has been spent. About 2,995 endosulfan victims are given monthly pensions." Rai continued.
"Foundation stone is laid for deputy commissioner’s office at Padil at the cost of Rs 41 crore. International standard swimming pool is being built at the cost of Rs 4.99 lacs. Rs 15 crore is sanctioned for planetarium in Pilikula. Veterinary college is being built at Koila. Administrative sanction is given in the state cabinet for construction of Ambedkar Bhavan at the cost of Rs 12 crore. Farmers are given interest free loan up to Rs three lacs and thereafter up to Rs 10 lacs at three percent interest. About 32 crore farmers loan is waived. Monthly pension of the artists who face difficulties has been increased to Rs 1,500. Under Bhagya Jyothi scheme, Rs 268 crore loan has been waived. To promote solar power, the solar policy is formed. The investor meet in Bengaluru was successfully organized. Handicapped loan has been waved." Rai said.
Sand Mafia
On being asked about the 'sand mafia' he said "There were some legal hurdles in CRZ and non- CRZ, now the problem is solved. Recently, sand which was illegally transported in the trains was caught and I urge the officials to investigate and punish the guilty."
Yettinahole
On the much controversial 'Yettinahole project' Rai commented that "The project was sanctioned in both the houses and discussion had to be done before the project was sanctioned. The protesters, waved the black flag when chief minster Siddaramaiah, came to the city. I question the protesters, why do not they wave black flags to Sadananda Gowda and Yeddyurappa who had initiated this project during their tenure?"
Deputy Commissioner informed the press persons that water level in Thumbay dam is increased to 6.2 ft so there will be continuous supply of water to the city from tomorrow onwards.
