Mangaluru, May 25: A delegation met Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, B Ramanath Rai, on Tuesday May 24 and handed over a memorandum to him seeking early arrest of Naresh Shenoy, Yuva Brigade leader, who has been named as main accused by the policemen in the case pertaining to murder of RTI activist, Vinayak P Baliga on March 21 this year.
The delegation comprising president of All India Rationalists Forum, Narendra Nayak, father of slain Vinayak P Baliga, B Ramachandra Baliga, and younger sister, Harsha, expressed their disappointment at the accused having been allowed to remain free even after two months of the crime. They noted that Naresh Shenoy has been trying to get anticipatory bail, and expressed apprehension about the likelihood of evidences being destroyed because of the accused having not been arrested.
Rai told them that the police personnel have been unable to nab Shenoy as he has been changing his base frequently. He told them that the police department will ensure that he is arrested at the earliest.
In the meanwhile, the high court has adjourned hearing into the anticipatory bail moved by Naresh Shenoy in the case to May 30.
