Bantwal, Jun 10: Lack of drainage facilities for the rain water has created an artificial lake in Panemangalore, on National Highway between Mangaluru and Bengaluru, where road widening work is in progress.
The work on Melkar, Narahari Nagara and B C Road which was conducted in stages has now reached in front of Panemangalore Satyadevata shrine. The local people had expressed their appreciation of the work.
However rain water that has remained there looks like a small lake causing anxiety among people. There were instances when the legs of people, getting down from buses during the last two days, getting stuck in the slush. Bikes also have got stuck in the wet mud. The mud lake troubles pedestrians and school children while crossing the road.
As the rain is likely to intensify further, the people have urged the concerned local administration or Highways Authority to construct drains for the flow of water.
