Bhatkal, Jun 11: Nalini Shenoy, mother of Anupama Shenoy, who has resigned as deputy superintendent of police of Kudligi, and Anupama's brother, Achuth, have presently been staying with Anupama's aunt at Bhatkal.

Nalini told press persons that her daughter was an honest officer, who had to resign because of immense political pressure and lack of support from her own department. "My daughter yearned to serve the society honestly, but people have crushed her desire," she rued. She also clarified that her daughter's fight is against the corrupt system supported by some politicians, and not the government. She added that Anupama is free to take a decision about her future and that so far she has not taken any specific decision.

Achuth felt that the government should have woken up to the reality and ensured that Anupama got justice. He said he would support any decision his sister takes. "Anupama has no intention of joining any political party as reported by a section of the media. During her visit to Ballari and Kudligi, I was with her all through, and no people's representatives or officials contacted her to convince her to rethink her resignation." He said he is not aware of the Facebook posts and that his sister would be able to answer such questions.

In the meanwhile, offie bearers of Jana Sangrama Parishat and Kanivehalli Protection Forum sat in dharna in front of the office of the tahsildar on Friday June 10, demanding withdrawal of resignation by Anupama Shenoy, and resignation of district in-charge minister, Parameshwar Naik.
