Karkala, Jun 14: Karkala police inspector Ravi and staff, under the leadership of Karkal ASP Dr Sumana, have arrested two members of a gang who were stealing vehicles, creating fake RC records, borrowing bank loans after pledging them and later selling the vehicles.
The accused are Najeem from Karkala Jarigudde and Abubakar from Kotekar in Mangaluru.
The accused had stolen a yet- to- be registered pickup parked at Jarigudde on June 2 and were using it after pasting fake number plate. Pervaje Salam Khan who had lost the vehicle had submitted a complaint to the town police station expressing suspicion on Najeem.
ASP Dr Sumana who realized the seriousness of the case tried hard for the arrest the accused and found the stolen pickup vehicle. Its value is said to be Rs 4 lacs.
Police have found through investigation that similar theft cases are pending against accused Najeem in Manipal police station and against Kotekar Abubakar in Hubballi, Lucknow and other police stations.
