To solve the drinking water problem in the future the government has come forward to establish pure drinking water units. In first phase this will be implemented in 13 villages of Beltangady taluk.

Obtain water by dropping a coin

The programme of providing drinking water is implemented through water units with coin box booths by zilla panchayat water and sanitation department. One has to drop a one rupee coin into the coin box and press the button to get 10 litres of water. If the 10 litres water is not sufficient, one more rupee coin can be dropped for additional water.

Water connection will provided by the existing water connection. Water you get is purified.

Construction of booths has started in some places including Nala.

In first phase units will be opened in 13 places of Beltangady taluk. Sulkeri in Aladangady, Nelyadka in Arasinamakki, Mairothadka in Bandaru, Kanyadi in Dharmasthala , Nala in Kaliya, Goliangady in Kukkedi, Maddadka in Kuvvettu, Madanthyar, Kajoor in Mithabagilu, Dompadapalke in Nada, Payyodigudde in Padangadi, Venoor are the places where these units will be installed.

Each unit costs Rs 8.50 lac. The government has sanctioned Rs 5 lac for every unit and remaining Rs 3.50 lac will be funded from local institutions.

This programme will be implemented by the beginning of next year. If the project is successful in 13 places, it will be extended to other places.

Its HK Patil's pet scheme to install water purification units in villages.
From last 3 years Govt already installed more than 2000 units.
In my view its a great scheme and people are benefited from this.

During summer, water supply will be less or purposely they will keep water level low saying that it is due to delay in rain and good way to make money. There will be big queue for water with jerrycans and chances of fight taking place like recent Delhi street fight for water. Government knows once Yettina Holae project in operation, there will be regular shortage of water and people should get used to shortage of water. Nidramayya started thinking in advance in his sleep.
After some time people will start sleeping in that room also udonate. Good for boozers. Who is going to maintain the room...?

Great job by the Government and local bodies.

Rupee one and 10 liters of water! Let us hope the booths will not run-out water in case of any draught like situation in the future. (there could be some scrupulous people who may sell 10 liters for Rs. 10.- plus elsewhere) Be careful.
