Mangaluru, Jun 22: The superintendent of police (SP) Bhushan Gulabrao Borase said that the police department has taken Trasi School Omni van accident very seriously and has planned to conduct a drive to strictly implement the school bus regulations very strictly.
He was speaking during a press briefing on Tuesday, June 21 at his office.
"In the first phase, the constables will visit the schools and collect data about all the vehicles which bring the school children. Next Sunday, we will hold a meeting with all the school heads and vehicle drivers of Bantwal and Puttur region to implement all the mandatory guidelines. The guidelines include painting the vehicle yellow and no overspeeding etc." Borase added.
Drive to increase visibility in highways
The SP also said that as less visibility has been a major reason for the rise in accidents on the national highways, a drive by police department with the coordination from NHAI, forest department, and MESCOM will be conducted.
A request will put to cut the branches of the trees which obstruct the visibility on roads, SP said.
"Sign boards and reflectors in the curves will be installed along with other measures to reduce the number of accidents on highways." SP said.
