Mangaluru, Jun 22: In the wake of the Trasi school van accident that took place on June 21 resulting in the tragic death of 8 children, the traffic police in city conducted an inspection drive of various school vehicles and warned the drivers carrying more children than the limit.
Teams led by the Traffic ACP Udaya Nayak inspected the vehicles at four major places namely Ladyhill, Bendoorwell, Navbharath and near Rosario school.
There were also instances when about 14-18 children were carried in Omni vehicles and the police warned the drivers in these cases.
The drivers have been instructed to carry students within the prescribed limits.
On Tuesday June 21, district superintendent of police (SP) Bhushan Gulabrao Borase had said that measures would be taken to contain accidents in the city and he had revealed about the drive to be implemented soon.
Police also checked school vehilces in Bantwal area.
