Ballari, Jun 24: H Nagaraj, working as junior assistant in Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company (Gescom)'s Bandihatti Ramanagara office in the district committed suicide on Thursday June 23 along with his wife and two kids. It is gathered that he was frustrated at the fact that he was denied leave even on the ground of ill health. The victims have been identified as H Ngaraj (40), hs wife, Ratnamma (30), Tanushree (6), and Pavani (4).
In connection with this suicide, the chief manager of Gescom has suspended three officers, executive engineer, Ramanjaneyalu, assistant executive engineer, K Sathish, and assistant accounts officer, V Jagadish.
Nagaraj gave juice mixed with poison to his wife and children before hanging himself at his home. As the door of his house remained locked since Wednesday night, people conveyed information to Ratnamma's father. Ratnamma's father, who came to the spot, also was worried that his daughter was not opening the door. He peeped through the window and found all the four persons dead.
In a suicide note left behind, Nagaraj said that the Gescom officials had refused him leave even after he told them that he was sick. When he stayed at home because he was sick, notice was served on him. "Frustrated at this attitude irrespective of the fact that I had not done anything wrong, I am taking this step. The officials who purposefully harassed me will suffer from the curse of my entire family," he stated.
In a complaint filed with the police, relatives of Nagaraj said that Nagaraj could not attend office on June 2 because he was not well. On June 3, higher officers served notice on him. ;Assistant executive engineer and assistant accounts officer of Gescom meted out mental harassment to him by not sanctioning leave, because of which he was driven to end his and those of his family, they said.
