Udupi, Jun 27: Two vehicle owners, ferrying children to school, tired of neglect of road by the corporation ignoring complaints, joined hands and repaired the road closing pot holes to the appreciation of local people. The incident took place at Beedinagudde near here on Monday, June 27.
The road tarred only four months ago, was washed away due to sub- standard work in the rain causing huge craters and pot holes in many places. Local people had complained about it to the city council but no action was forthcoming. Tired of the government office attitude, children's vehicle owner and driver Vigneshwara Bhat and driver Krishna Prasad who were worried about the safety of children came back to the road after leaving children in the school and started filling the pot holes.
In Beedinagudde, where drainage work has just been completed, mud has caved in causing huge craters making vehicle drivers drive in anxiety. A school bus was about to fall into valley after it avoided a collision with another school bus on Monday, June 27 due to the bad condition of the road. The people have hoped that the council wakes up and takes at least temporary preventive measures.
Vigneshwara Bhat and Krishna Prasad informed that many accidents have taken place on this road in the recent past.
