New Delhi, Jun 30: If news making the rounds in the national capital are to be believed, law and justice minister, D V Sadananda Gowda, is likely to be relieved of his responsibility during the ministry reorganization exercise shortly. Some other sources claim that having been dissatisfied by the performance of his ministry, the prime minister (PM) is thinking of giving a minister of state to this department to strengthen Gowda's hands towards improving efficiency.
In all probability, PM, Narendra Modi, will be taking up the exercise of tuning up the ministry after the celebrations relating to completion of two years in office are held. The ministry organization is expected by Juy 4.
The BJP top brass has decided to give ministerial berths to a few leaders from Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Gujarat states, where assembly elections are due shortly, to brighten party chances there. Therefore, a few existing ministers will have to sacrifice their seats.
There are unconfirmed rumours that Sadannda Gowda will be made vice president of the party. Out of 17 BJP MPs elected from Karnataka, three, Gowda, Anant Kumar and Siddeshwar, have been made central ministers.
Initially, Gowda had been made railway minister. There were reports that the prime minister was not convinced with the functioning of this ministry under Gowda and hence Gowda was given law and justice department, after the railway ministry was given to Suresh Prabhu. It is to be seen whether the position being vacated by Gowda now would be given to an MP from Karnataka or someone else.
