ED seizes properties worth Rs 50 crore of Bannanje Raja, others

Mangaluru, Jul 2: Enforcement directorate (ED) has seized property worth around Rs 50 crore belonging to underworld element Bannanje Raja and others on Friday, July 1.

The reason cited for the seizure was that the money for the accumulation of mentioned properties were from Hawala transactions made from Dubai.

Bannanje Raja, Haji Amin Basha, Paul and his wife are the persons whose properties have been seized.

It is alleged that Paul instructed his Dubai-based brother to send money from there to buy properties in India through Hawala transactions. This fact was discovered by investigation agencies recently. 

The properties seized include three residential flats for which an advance of Rs 1.21 crore was paid, 18 acres land in Mangaluru city, a mineral water manufacturing plant and other residential properties.

    Incredible India.
    Politicians rob genral public and park money abroad. Person who work hard in 50'C and send back his earnings and gives a boost to economy and GDP are unwelcomed in india with such type of cases. People know how mr. Paul is and he will come clean. This will offcourse hurt sentiments of businessman living in dubai and may end with hindring to invest in their home country but diverting funds to investor friendly countries.

    U r right Jossy, if it would have Indian looted money or any connections to Indian earnings he would have been stacked in foreign banks or foreign soil, y will he invest in India? That too face investigation agencies! Guys u too careful ur hard earned money investing in India, u may face income tax, sales tax, Ed, etc.

    It is really funny that people talk of corruption in India. Not a surprising news. Can't say people working abroad dont know about hawala. Because hawala is foreign money. Isn't that why you have FERA in India.

    Suneetha it's Indian money gets converted into hawala. That's only because of corruption in India. From outside India mainly working class innocently sends money to their family's for urgency n they don't know who's money delivered to their family's. It's common practise in d Gulf countries.

    guys don't send money via Hundi / Hawala, to get faster money back home for urgent need may b for hospital bills or school fees or property registration, due to Unknowing mistakes u use Hundi channel n u may fall in to problems n enemies of u take full advantage n make dirty game behind you. Moreover ur enemies involved in Hawala n criminal activities only they can go against you. Because they knows how to fix u by them-self setlling in Canada or other 3rd country.
