Bengaluru, Jul 3: The state government, in a circular to departments, corporations and boards, has asked officials to cut costs in their expenditure and also sent suggestions on the implementation of the directive, such as not to use government vehicles unnecessarily.
"Come by train to Bengaluru and then use taxi here. When you go to New Delhi, use train and stay at Karnataka Bhavan. Use taxi only after reaching there." these are some of the suggestions made to deputy commissioners and ZP, CEOs.
"Do not use government vehicles during holidays. Fuel usage for vehicles should be cut by 20 percent this year as compared to last year.
"Do not buy equipment unnecessarily and only buy important equipment as per needs. Do not just buy and hoard things. They can be bought only for a particular month," the circular states.
"Postpone the purchase of photocopiers. Do not buy furniture and fixtures just because there is budgetary allocation. Do not buy materials, equipment or any other items at the end of financial year," the circular adds.
In short, the circular asks the public servants to tighten their belts in order to save for the state.
