Bengaluru, Jul 6: Through an order, Karnataka State Human Rights Commission (KSHRC) has imposed a fine of Rs 1.78 lac on the police sub-inspector and two constables of Hassan extension police station here. These policemen have been found guilty of misusing their official positions for settling personal scores.
Police sub-inspector, Vijayakrishna, and constables, Harish and Madhu, have been ordered to pay this fine. Chairperson of KSHRC, Meera Saxena, has also written to the secretary in the home department and state director general of police, asking them to initiate disciplinary proceedings against these erring policemen.
The police personnel had beaten up Raju, Shivanna, Thammanna and Ashwath on September 8, 2001, relating to some dispute over financial issues. The police personnel thereafter had falsely registered case in Hassan extension station, alleging that they had been attacked by the foursome.
The court had exonerated all the four in 2015, finding that charges levelled against them were not proved. At the same time, the affected people had complained to human rights commission seeking justice for being victims of wrongful assault.
