Although there were rumours that two of the accused, Nataraj and Praveen Khandya were arrested, Pratap Reddy denied the information.
There have been rumours that the DySP was merely acting as a mediator between two warring groups engaged in betting and that he was not involved with the kidnap drama. However, detailed investigation alone can bring out the truth.
The mortal remains of Kallappa Handibag were brought to his native place at 11.30 pm on Tuesday. The villagers held protest for three hours demanding visit by district in-charge minister and superintendent of police, and payment of compensation to the bereaved family, before conducting the funeral.
