Mangalore, Nov 16: A lot of advancements have become possible today because of informational technology. But all the information available in the internet is not good. Speaking after inaugurating the state-level intellectual and cultural fest ‘Pre-Unique 2007’ at St Aloysius Pre-University College, he said that, once character is lost, everything is lost. Hence, the student community should give more priority for their character, he asked.
“Accumulation of facts is not knowledge. A computer can store a lot of knowledge. But it cannot think like a human being. That is why the human brain is more important than all,” he opined.
All the students should have aims and ambitions in their life. But they should achieve the step-by-step, he advised.
Fr Francis Serrao, rector of St Aloysius institutions, presiding over the function, said that, the college considers three major aspects in the life of a student, that is, information, formation and transformation. Hence, the entire institution stands unique, he informed.
