Bengaluru, Jul 11: “Opposition is responsible for the suicides of police officers including DySP Kallappa Handibag and DySP M K Ganapati. I want to state that Congress party is no ways responsible for these deaths,” said home minister as well as the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Dr G Parameshwar on Sunday, July 10 here.
Dr Parameshwar was speaking in a ceremony at KPCC office on Race Course Road when Dinesh Gundu Rao took charge as KPCC working president.
“It is well known fact that how the BJP and JD(S) governed the state during their regimes. There was lot of pressure on police officers then and recently because of that, some officers have resorted to suicides. Present state government is not responsible for these deaths,” he added.
Action against seniors
The minister warned that action will be taken against some senior party leaders who speak against the Congress government in public. “They should express their grievances and differences within the party forum. Otherwise we will take strict action against them,” he said.
'Congress will come to power'
Dr Parameshwar said that the Congress party will come to power in the next Assembly elections. “There is absolutely not possible for anybody to make this country a Congress-free. It is only a dream of BJP,” he said.
He also said that Dinesh Gundu Rao will work for the party relentlessly and the government will continue with its pro-poor policies.
Several Congress leaders including chief minister Siddaramaiah and Mallikarjun Kharge participated in the programme.
