Udupi: People take no notice of 'no entry' sign, cops don't bother

Udupi, Jul 11: This road is a one-way. Two ‘no entry’ boards can be seen on the entrance of the road from one side. Still, vehicle drivers seldom care about these two boards which are clearly visible and enter the road. That is because of the habit followed for years. They know nobody is going to stop them.

The road is in Kadubettu in Ajjarakad ward here. This road which connects Brahmagiri through Sicily school is very narrow. That is why the traffic department made this road one-way. But if the vehicles obey the boards, they have to use a longer route, so they use this shortcut. People who come from the other side face problems due to this don't-give-a-damn attitude.

The traffic police who are aware of the problem have not been visiting this place. Instead they have turned a blind eye. They have never fined anyone for violating the 'no entry' rule. As in most cases, this too will perhaps take an accident to wake up the authorities.

This is not about only one road. Most of the 'no entry' roads are being violated on a regular basis, but the traffic department seems to be blissfully unaware.

The sign not says for vehicles and it is in English. Let us think our political and Kannada Love gangs, when ever there is some thing going on all will protest, give all f... speeches, and all stupid they will do. But about this they won't care.
Need correction in sign board. One way Only for Vehicles/All Vehicles are prohibited to enter this way. Need in English also in Kannada. When there is rule why Police personal need to bother....And even if they bother ....some one will call ...to withdraw the case, fine, or the police person will be.......

This No Entry road sign has been there for over thirty years and it has real significance.Violators may end up in distress. The curve is such that one may not be able to spot a vehicle coming in the opposite direction in time to avoid a collision.Better be safe than sorry.

Hello friends. I am a daily commuter on this road.(On a right way not going on a no entry road) This road goes to st. Cicily's School. Everyday lots of rickshaws with children come in this no entry road that too with a higher speed. Our Police department is busy with catching people with no helmets. They are not bothered about this case. One more thing i had an accident on this road while i was going with my father around 15 years back. Hit & Run by Rickshaw.Legacy has continued still no solution.

This is a serious matter reflecting on the service of the traffic police and strict action need to be taken on the vehicle commuters who are disobeying this rule.

The thinking in India is " Rules are meant to be Broken". So you find 2 way driving in 1 way.... Riding on the Footpaths.... Over - speed driving where the speed limit is mentioned, Parking where there is NO PARKING...... LAST OF ALL FIGHTING IN PUBLIC Even if its your Fault

Continuous patrolling at this junction by the police is required. The traffic rule violator should be punished with penalty to stop entering at No entry road. It is observed that even after entering 'No entry' road some drive recklessly without bothering the safety of vehicles coming from opposite direction and pedestrians.

Dear RTO….pls amend the board as “No Entry & Exit” then people would follow the sign board perfectly!!!! Our innocent coastal drivers are unique in nature & habit….when you say no…..you need to explain why no??? Else you are hurting their feelings and self-esteem too!!!! By the way when did I follow the sign board when I drive in Udupi region???? I don’t remember!!!!

People are well aware that even being caught, they will get away with paying little bribes.Fix cameras and put a hefty fine to deter the violators.

If the fuel price is reasonable according to present crude oil price..."No entry main entry" will automatically reduce...Government is equally responsible for these kind of traffic violations.

Good initiative by Daiji to highlight problems of common people. Also please run a article on overcharging and refusal to go to places of passengers choice by auto rickshaws!. These auto drivers blatantly challenge you to complain to anyone you want! they are so much confident nothing is going to happen!

On the very first instance itself one can note that the department has violated on using a non-reflective traffic sign board, then where does the department follow other rules & regulations.
