Kasargod, Jul 12: Violence has returned to Payyanur near Kannur after the recent elections and has resulted in the deaths of two persons from different political parties on Monday, July 11.
CPM member C V Dhanaraj (38) and BJP’s labour union BMS’ member C K Ramachandran (52) are the deceased.

CPM has called for bandh in the Payyanur Assembly constituency condemning the murder of its member.
There has been tension in the area after the murders. More than 25 houses and nearly 20 vehicles have been damaged by attacks. Some vehicles have been torched.
A gang which entered the house of Dhanaraj at 10.20 on Monday night assaulted him brutally in front of his family members. The gang had six members and had come in three bikes. Dhanaraj died on the spot.
Within few hours of the murder of Dhanaraj, another gang threw country made bomb at the house of Ramachandran and entered his house. The gang then attacked Ramachandran in the presence of his family members with lethal weapons. Ramachandran who was rushed to the hospital was declared brought dead.
The violent murders for political reasons have shaken the people at Payyanur. Police are on high alert and are on the lookout for murderers.
