Puttur: Serial thefts at Nelyady - shopkeepers lose lacs of rupees

Puttur, Jul 16: Unidentified thieves struck it rich at two places in Nelyady downtown in the early hours of Friday July 15. They entered a bakery-cum-juice centre and a jewellery store.

Two thieves were involved with these thefts as per CCTV footage obtained from these two shops. The thieves were able to loot lacs of rupees from these shops.

The thieves who entered 'G Gold' shop in Alisha Complex owned by Amir from Kannur took away seven kg silver, one kilogram of precious stones and a Samsung mobile phone. The total value of stolen items here has been estimated at Rs 5.5 lac. They made unsuccessful efforts to break open the safe locker in which gold was kept.

The thieves also went into Sharada Bakery and Juice Centre on the opposite side of G Gold in Pooja Towers, broke open the shutter of the shop, and took away about Rs 8,000 in cash found inside. They also took away cold drinks and eatables from the shop. There are CCTV cameras inside and outside this bakery, and the one fitted outside was removed by the thieves. But the other camera has recorded their movements. The theft occurred at around 2 am.

Assistant superintendent of police, Rishvanth, Uppinangady police sub-inspector, Thimmappa Naik, and other policemen visited the spot. Sniffer dogs and finger print experts also arrived at the spot and helped in investigation.

    Thefts nowadays are like just go to the market to buy vegetables.so often ,so easily?They seem to have no Problems and not at alll afraid.Mostly on Holidays and Weekends,they know noone is observing them?why not Keep some watch man at Shops where goldshops or precious articles are there.?cctv haven't brought any success.Police could also have a ride at night on weekends instead of sitting in their cabin.I am sure These thieves will never be caught.

    All Mafia's are residing in Puttur/Ullal/Thokuttu. many liquor shops are doing extremely good business,these rogs will not break open the Liquor shops because owner would know who had done this. Police should question liquor shop people if they really want to catch and book these culprit

    Puttur also turning slowly to ullal.
    Law-breakers are more in this vicinity. Should need patrolling 24 hours to avoid such incidents.
    Why did they ransacked juice center and bakery. May be they thought more of people visiting these shops and involvement are much.
    What our people are doing..when people from neighbouring states are having shops in our place.
    We are only good in blaming one another.
