Kasargod, Jul 20: After the driver of a gas tanker lost control over his vehicle, the tanker jumped into a ten-feet deep roadside gorge. As the tanker posed considerable risk, this accident gave rise to traffic snarl.
In this accident, which happened near Kumble Shiriya on national highway 66 on Tuesday July 19 morning, tanker driver, Ganesh, and cleaner, Dhanraj, suffered minor injuries.
The tanker carrying liquefied petroleum gas from Mangaluru to Kochi went wayward when attempting to overtake a vehicle near Kumble. It fell into the gorge between Shiriya pump and temple. This accident threw traffic on Kasargod-Mangaluru stretch of the highway out of gear.
The vehicles coming from Mangaluru were then redirected via Bandyodu-Permude-Seetangoli and Kumble but many of the buses cut short their trips, which created problems for the students and commuters alike.
