Bantwal, Jul 21: Due to an insavoury incident which occurred at Kalladka in the taluk on Wednesday July 20, tension spread though the town. Business concerns and establishments chose to shut their shutters earlier than usual in the evening.
Two groups got involved with verbal friction at Kalladka on Wednesday evening, as a result of which tension mounted. Police who came to know about the incident rushed to the spot and tightened security all over the town. They also warned against formation of crowds, and with effective measures, managed to bring the situation under control.
As it seemed that tension started building again in the evening, shops and other concerns closed for the day in advance. It is being claimed that the police on patrol duty asked other shops and establishments also to shut their doors.
Police are keeping close vigil in and around Kalladka town to ensure that the situation does not give rise to unwanted incidents. Police have been posted round the clock at strategic spots and the department is keeping a close watch on the situation there.
