Mangalore, Nov 22: "The education system in India indeed deserves laurels, because it is progressive. But, it does not mean that it is free of all drawbacks. Hence, it is about time that we redefine the present education in India," said Janab Abdulla Javed, president, Jamat-e-Islam Hind Karnataka and Goa, here on Wednesday November 21.
He was delivering the inaugural address at West Regional Student Rally and Conference during ‘25th year's celebration of redefining education, regaining struggle, renovating society’ organized by Students Islamic Organization of India (SIO) and held at the Nehru Maidan here.
The drawback of our education system is that it does not focus on religious tolerence. Since India is a multi-religiouis and multi-cultural nation, education system should promulgate the ideals which are suplementary in spreading the ideals like religious tolerence, he added.
"There are no indifferent opinions that Indian education system is progressive and well-equipped. But still we are not certain that our educatuion system is self-sustained. It fails to teach interpersonal skills. It has not succeeded in building a healhy relationship between teachers and students," he opined.
Indian education has failed to attenuate the instigation of moral degradation, the existance of eve-teasing and ragging is an apparent example. The education should make students responsible citizens. The gifts of education should ensure that good culture and reliable civilization will continue and flourish in the future. The rally and convention is meant to make the participants to introspect," he added.
The top priority of education must be moral upliftment of students, Therefore, the education system should equip students to fight evils and bring discipline in all forms, not just what has been percieved ‘Academic’, he suggested.
Student Manifesto and ‘Saptapata Sangati’ were released by Janab Iqbal Mulla and Eesha Vitaldas Swamiji respectively.
