Udupi, Jul 22: A woman has filed a complaint in Manipal police station here alleging that she has been duped of Rs 3 lac by a tours and travels agency which had promised to provide her a visa to Finland for a job.
Archana George, wife of M S George, a resident of Kunjibettu, Shivalli, filed the complaint against 'Hilarious Tours and Travels'.
Archana, a nurse by profession, stated in her complaint that while browsing through her Facebook account a few months ago, she came across an advertisement by Hilarious Tours and Travels calling for applications for nursing jobs in Finland.
Growing interested in the job offer, Archana decided to apply. She contacted the agency and was told to submit her passport and other relevant documents by post to apply for the visa. Between January 13 and June 1 this year, she deposited Rs 3 lac in a bank account as instructed by the agency.
Thereafter, the agency stopped all communication with Archana. The accused, namely Rahul Patel, Pranali and Manvi Prarso ignored her calls, and did not send any details about visa procedure. They did not even return her passport and the money she had deposited.
Realizing that she had been duped by the agency, Archana finally lodged a complaint with the Manipal police, who have have registered a case of cheating under IPC Section 420.
