Udupi: Visa fraud - Nurse duped of Rs 3 lac by travel agency

Udupi, Jul 22: A woman has filed a complaint in Manipal police station here alleging that she has been duped of Rs 3 lac by a tours and travels agency which had promised to provide her a visa to Finland for a job.

Archana George, wife of M S George, a resident of Kunjibettu, Shivalli, filed the complaint against 'Hilarious Tours and Travels'.

Archana, a nurse by profession, stated in her complaint that while browsing through her Facebook account a few months ago, she came across an advertisement by Hilarious Tours and Travels calling for applications for nursing jobs in Finland.

Growing interested in the job offer, Archana decided to apply. She contacted the agency and was told to submit her passport and other relevant documents by post to apply for the visa. Between January 13 and June 1 this year, she deposited Rs 3 lac in a bank account as instructed by the agency.

Thereafter, the agency stopped all communication with Archana. The accused, namely Rahul Patel, Pranali and Manvi Prarso ignored her calls, and did not send any details about visa procedure. They did not even return her passport and the money she had deposited.

Realizing that she had been duped by the agency, Archana finally lodged a complaint with the Manipal police, who have have registered a case of cheating under IPC Section 420.

    People should realize by now that to work in Europe you need Schengen visa. Which is impossible for a Indian, unless you have ben employed by their company. Also, you can immigrate to any country by applying online. Agents are no more required.

    Sorry Archana.You are educated,and we hear everywhere about People duping ,taking Money in advance before visa is there.sad ,I advice everyone to take Information when such People ask Money in advance,write to the consulate direct and ask their advice if any such Job possibility is there.Atleast when European countrys.They answer you without delay ,and actual.Addresses you get from travel agency.(not such unknown ones)Now for These three lacs ,have to work Long.Next time you know.

    This visa fraud case reminds about Mr. Shafi from Al Naaz Travel Agency in Mangalore. He duped several people and ran away. People should pay money only after they see the visa not before.

    Duping is not restricted to India alone. Even in the US, our country’s vice consul at New York (Devnani or Devyani Khobragade) dared to dupe her Indian maid, but got trapped unfortunately and her influential father in India sought political help to rescue her.

    These 3 family names are not belongs to origin local populace. In the year of 2000 one cheating agency of North Indians temporarily functioning near Govt Bus stand of Udupi hiring a local girl as receptionist, advertising in local kannada news paper. I called udupi police to check whether it is genuine or fake. Next day the same paper shows that they were arrested.

    that was the time where nurses educated to treat needy or patients. but now all girls are joining nursing with only dream of job in aboard and money , money & money. the only thing in their mind is when i get chance to go foreign to collect money in bank accounts and enjoy lavish life. The societies norms ,respects to elders are culture of girls are vanished recent years because of nurse education and over pride of those girls. they are just thinking they are on the top of everything , everything/one must surrender to their demands. unfortunate, every person treating nurses as golden egg laying hen.

    Negila...Here I 'm totally disagree with you. As you consider nursing is not so easy job. Wants to qualify for it. They are doing education staying away from home for four year's period. Should appreciate gals sacrifice towards there family.
    Everybody wants there family and family members to have respected life in the society. For that reason all of alone they travel abroad..to earn more money. May be some examination to be given if wants to work in european countries.
    For gal it means she is almost all life keep away from there parents and only few years..in childhood stay with family members.
    It's big sacrifice she is doing. While looking at hospitals will find to know how with dedication they do there jobs..treating the patients.
    When we enter hospital with pain..and come out with relief..and forget the same. Daily how many people come out becoming good and normal. It's after all efforts of these nurses and doctors.
    Even archana went with hope to have good scope in finland..after seeing the ad. How she is know...some one will dupe her of hard earned money.
    Society full of cheaters..should.be careful. Many people duped earlier also...and will continue.

    Negila yogi,you comment as though you work for umme ,do sozial Service.Everyone whowant to survive Need Money .Actually previously noone wanted to work as Nurse,and trend was who works as Nurse wanted to marry,because she deals with males,and many.Now trend is wants a Nurse to marry because she brings more Money.Nursng is not everybodys Thing.Day and night duties,and professionality requires much opfer.And you talk of Money.Come to the earth.when same work elsewhere better payment is there,and Family has better prospects than in India,why not try elsewhere.?Many agents take Advantage of such Innocents and dupe them sad,and some enjoy teasing the efforts of victims.

    I wonder what made this educated lady to deposit 3 Lac even before the job visa is provided by these so called 'agents'. Immigration laws have been tightened now so one can check authenticity of these recruitment agencies with the ministry
