Mangaluru: Piracy of 'Dabak Dabaa Aisa' a strategy to murder my film: Producer

Mangaluru, Jul 22: "Tulu Film Producers' Association sternly condemns the piracy of the much-awaited movie 'Dabak Dabaa Aisa' produced under the banner of Jaya Kirana Films, two weeks prior to the official release of the movie," said T A Shrinivas, president of the association.

Addressing a press meet here on Friday July 22, he said, "The Tulu Film Producers' Association will also complain to the Mangaluru police commissioner, deputy commissioner, superintendent of police, IGP of western range, Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce and district in-charge minister about the piracy of the movie. Those guilty of the offence should be severely punished. A police complaint has already been lodged at the Karkala police station. Police should act stringently on this. The Tulu film industry has also been affected on account of this piracy. In Tulu industry a producer has to spend several lacs of rupees to produce a movie."

Film producer and director of 'Dabak Dabaa Aisa' Prakash Pandeshwar said, "My movie has been leaked as a strategy to murder it. It may not have been done with the intention of making money. The film leaked when it was in the process of being submitted from the studio to the Censor Board. The police have already taken into custody the accused who distributed the pirated movie from his mobile shop. The complaint has been filed by the president and the representatives of Bengaluru Central Board of Film Certification, Kumar, a middleman of the Censor Board, chief of UNIFI MEDIA, Abbayya Naidu Studio, Chikkalasandra, Bengaluru, and Shashikanth Kuntalpady, Karkala."

Film director, actor and vice-president of the association, Devdas Kapikad also stated that the information about the piracy of the movie came to light through his son's friend who informed them that the film had gone viral on mobile phones of college students. "This was immediately brought to the notice of the producer. A police complaint has already been lodged in Karkala town police station," he said.

Devdas Kumar Pandeshwar, R Dhanraj and others were present at the press meet.
