Cow vigilantes beat two Muslim women over beef rumour

July 27 (Agencies): Two muslim women were physically  assaulted on beef rumours by cow vigilantes in presence of police in Mandasur, Madhya Pradesh, according to media reports.

In a video shot by one of the many spectators, policemen are seen making half-hearted efforts to stop the cow vigilantes, reports ndtv.

The police say they were at the Mandasur railway station to arrest the two Muslim women because they had been informed about the women travelling with a large quantity of beef to sell.

However, the local doctor who examined the meat declared the consignment to be buffalo meat, not beef as claimed by the police.

But the two muslim women have been charged for not carrying permit to sell the meat.  On the other hand, none of the cow vigilantes have been arrested yet for physically assulting the women.

Further details are awaited.
