What happened to the Emergency Exit Door at the rear end of the Bus. If Mr Hegde was sitting at rear end means He should have been out fast. May be a spare tire or extra seat was blocking Emergency Exit.
Second question is :How such a large Bus consumed by fire so fast? What was loaded in the Luggage Compartment of this bus. Was there any Flammable Liquid Stored along with Tobacco Products as usual!!
It is against the Law to carry Cargo in these Buses. But stand near PVS Building,or near Bunts Hostel Bus Stand across Abhiman Building and watch the Cargo being loaded into Luxury Buses. RTO is bribed and they do not care what happens!!!

Please note: THERE IS NO EMERGENCY EXIT in these buses. RTO has done nothing as they are hand-in-glove with these bus operators.

Death by fire is probably one of the most painful. RTO should take proper steps to prevent. Now a days buses come with three batteries serially connected which is 36 volts, with 600 amps & has the power to burn wiring in short-circuit.

SMOKE DETECTORS WITH ALARM SHOULD BE MADE COMPULSORY FOR ALL LONG ROUTE BUSES BY R.T.O. BETWEEN 2AM AND 5 AM ANY HUMAN BEING GETS A DEEP SLEEP. BY LISTENING TO THE ALARM AT LEAST PEOPLE WILL GET UP AND ESCAPE THROUGH EMERGENCY EXITS.

There should be some kind of organised alarm system in all long journey buses to alert passengers which should be made compulsory to avoid such incidents. Its very sad we have to hear road accidents and such incidents very often.

Hope the Transport Dept. tightens its verification/control over illegal transportation of banned/inflammable goods by Passenger Transport Buses.

If not, many more such incidents are likely to happen.

RIP to the deceased passengers and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured ones.
