Mangaluru, Jul 28: Vincent Alva from Pamboor, a multi-faceted writer and teacher, has been awarded PhD degree by Mangalore University for his thesis entitled 'Interpreting and Interrogating Indian Traditions: A Study of the Fictional Works of Gita Mehta, Shashi Tharoor and Rohinton Mistry'. He was successfully guided by Prof D R Shashidhara, department of English, Mangalore University.
Vincent did his graduation from Poorna Prajna College, Udupi and pursued his masters degree in English from Mangalore University. He began his teaching career at Pompei College, Aikala. Presently he is serving as associate professor of English at Milagres College, Kallianpur, Udupi.
He was the member of Karnataka Konkani Sahithya Academy too. His articles, stories and columns continually appear in print and electronic media. He has translated Jnana Pita Awardee, U R Ananthamoorthy's novel 'Samskara' into Konkani, which has been published by Karnataka Konkani Sahithya Academy.
A continuous learner, Vincent is a teacher par excellence, an organizer, a music lover, a dramatist, and a renowned orator.
