Mangaluru: Former bank employee hangs himself from tree

Mangaluru, Jul 30: A former employee of a nationalized bank residing at Karnad near Mulky ended his life by hanging himself from the branch of a tree inside the compound of his building. The man, living alone, committed suicide on Friday July 29.

Vishwanath Suvarna (64), living at Nallur plots behind State Bank of India, Karnad, killed himself in this manner. He had been working as a TV mechanic till some time back, but because of continued worries and frustration, he had stopped working. He lived alone, while his wife and children reportedly live at Mysuru.

It is said that on Friday morning, he had called his wife to inform her that he had decided to end his life. In a piece of paper, he had written that a number of people who had borrowed from him had not repaid their dues to him. He also was found to have kept aside clothes necessary to cover his corpse.

A passerby noticed the body hanging from the tree and informed the police. A complaint was registered at Mulky police station. Investigation has been undertaken.
