Mangaluru, Aug 1: Mayor of the Mangaluru city Corporation (MCC) Harinath along with the parish priest of Bondel Church Fr Andrew D'Souza inaugurated the newly built bus stop with the waste management message near the Bondel Church on Monday, August 1.
Speaking on the occasion Harinath said "This is a unique bus stop to implement the waste management in city effectively. I am happy that the first bus stop of its kind has been inaugurated in the ward of Kavitha Sanil, president of the MCC standing committee for health and education. I call upon all the people in the city to make best use of the facilities provided by the MCC for waste management and not to throw the garbage in the drains or dump them on roads."
Speaking on the occasion Kavitha Sanil said "This bus stop has been built by MCC to spread awareness about the segregation of solid waste at the households. Whenever you are handing over the waste to the MCC workers, please separate them as the wet waste and the dry waste. This will help the MCC to implement the solid waste management system effectively and efficiently."
Corporators Lancelot Pinto, former mayor Shashidhar Hegde and others were present at the occasion.
