Udupi, November 29: President of the reception committee of Souharda Sahitya Sammelana  (SSS), G Rajashekhar declared ‘‘As the Souharda Sahitya Sammelana is being held as a protest against the 74th Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, for not discussing the communal issues disturbing the coastal districts, there is no question of officially inviting Prof Chandrashekjar Patil to the Sammelan,

It must be noted that earlier on Prof Patil who is also called Champa, had greeted the SSS and even expressed his willingness to participate and address the Sammelan if given an invitation.

Rajashekar was speaking a function held to release the invitation of the SSS to be held on December 9 at Ammani Ramanna Shetty hall here. He however, clarified that a routine invitation would be sent to him, which he said Champa may attend.

Further he pointed out that the communal violence in general and the Adi Udupi stripping incident in particular, had stripped the people, the media, the administration of their dignity, independence and equality, he rued.

Prof Phaniraj released the invitation of the Souharda Sahitya Sammelan. Secretary of the reception  committee, Dinakar S Bengre, vice-president Khaleel Ahmed and Rasool Katapady and others were present at the meet.
