Mangaluru, Aug 13: BJP national president Amit Shah will visit Mangaluru on August 21 and take part in various programmes as part of BJP's nation-wide 'Tiranga Yatra' campaign, informed BJP Dakshina Kannada district president Sanjeeva Matandoor.
Addressing a press meet at the BJP office here, Matandoor said, "Amit Shah will be arriving in the city on August 21 as part of BJP's 'Tiranga Yatra' campaign. He will inaugurate a bike rally at Pumpwell, organized by the BJP Yuva Morcha north and south units.
"He will then proceed to Ullal where he will garland the statue of Rani Abbakka to commemorate the sacrifice of our freedom fighters. Thereafter, he will address a programme at Konaje, in which state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa and union minister D V Sadananda Gowda wil also take part," he said.
"The same day in all assembly constituencies, the Raita Morcha will plant saplings. Even though this programme is being organized by the BJP, the party flags will not be displayed.
"To mark the 70th Independence Day in a unique way, as per the direction of PM Narendra Modi, BJP DK is observing Tiranga Yatra to evoke nationalism and patriotism among citizens. This campaign started on August 9 and will go on till August 23 across the entire country
"On August 15, the Tricolour will be hoisted at the BJP district quarters and at around 3 pm, union minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy will come to Mangaluru to attend the 70th Independence Day programme at T V Ramana Pai hall," he said.
"The same evening, in all assembly constituencies BJP Yuva Morcha will hold a torchlight march. Also, BJP will hold 'Khadi Tabbikolli' to promote the Khadi industry. On August 18, BJP Mahila Morcha will organize a Rakshan Bandhan programme," Matandoor informed.
He also said that from August 16 to August 23 there will be bike rallies in all assembly constituencies.
