Kasargod, Aug  14: In connection with a case in which fake credit cards were used for putting in transactions worth several lacs of rupees, six persons including the main accused were arrested by the police from here and Pune. A number of bank customers had lost significant amounts because of this fraud.

Four of the accused including Talangare Numan (24) were arrested from Pune while Basheer and L Hamza from Vittal were arrested here. Machine which can manufacture fake credit cards, credit card swiping machine, over 100 fake credit cards, and a car were seized from the pune team. The person who masterminded the entire operation, Muhammed Sabir (19) from the town had been arrested some days back from Kochi.

The police have got to know that Numan, who was employed at Dubai, took the lead in making this plan a success. When employed in a super market at Dubai, Numan used to handle hundreds of credit cards. It is said that he copied details of many cards from there, prepared fake credit cards, and defrauded the concerned. He used to  copy details from the cards by attaching the swiping machine to another machine. He had also used fake credit cards issued by private banks from USA.

During his visit to his native place too, Numan continued to defraud by using cards in the town, Ernakulam etc. He then went to Pune and  stayed in a luxury hotel with his companions there. On getting these details, the police conveyed this information to Pune police, after which the accused were nabbed.

Although it is said that the team had plans to commit similar frauds in Mumbai exact details will come to the fore once the entire investigation is concluded.
