Beltangady: Mentally challenged hangs himself at home

Beltangady, Aug 14: Prakash (47), son of Ramappa Poojary living in Daddu, Rayi village, committed suicide by hanging himself from the roof beams of his home on Saturday August 13. Prakash was a mentally challenged person.

Prakash has left behind wife and a daughter.

Prakash, who was working in a textiles shop at Moodbidri, had taken leave since a few days because of aggravation of his mental problems. The family had recently built a new home, and family members were in that house. The family members had retired for the night after dinner on Friday. At around 4 am on Saturday, someone noticed that Prakash was not at home.

A thorough search revealed that Prakash has hanged himself from the beams of the roof of the old family house, policemen said.

A case about the incident stands registered in rural police station here. Zilla panchayat members, M Tungappa Bangera and Daranendra Kmar visited the spot and consoled the members of the bereaved family.
