Udupi, Sep 1: Ravi Katpadi, a member of Ravi Friends Balaga wore special costumes during the Ashtami festival as an aid to helping in the medical treatment of poor and sick children. He handed over Rs 4.12 lac collected by him during the festival to the parents of these children at a programme held at Katpadi SVS Educational Institute on September 1.

 

Udupi Zilla Panchayat chief executive, Priyanka Mary Francis who handed over the money lauded the humanitarian efforts of Ravi Katpadi and Ravi Friends Balaga and said that the cooperation of all is necessary in their mission.

The beneficiaries of the amount were 3½ year old Grishmitha, a Katbelthur resident, 3 year old Mirza Maiza Fathima, an Udyavar resident, four year old Krithik, a Shankerpura resident and 3 year old Greeshma, a Moodusagri resident.

Katpadi SVS Junior College convener Vasanth Madhav Bhat presided over the programme. College principal Dayanand Prabhu and High school headmaster Shekar Anchan were present.

Daiyi, mother of Ravi Katpadi who has been an inspirational strength for him in his social endeavour was felicitated on behalf of Ravi Friends and the people.

Katpadi KVSM college convener Mahesh Shenoy welcomed the gathering with an introduction. Retired teacher former president of Katpadi Rotary Club, Appu Poojary compered the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.
