Udupi: Department convinces Kota sub-inspector to withdraw resignation

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Sep 23: The whereabouts of Kota police station sub-inspector, Kabbalraj, who had suddenly gone missing after tendering his resignation on Thursday, were found out on the same night. It has transpired that the higher ups in the department succeeded in convincing Kabbalraj to withdraw his resignation. He is expected to report for duty at the station on Friday.

It is said that district superintendent of police (SP), K T Balakrishna, had asked Kabbalraj to contact him for discussing with him a matter relating to land dispute at Airody village near Kota. Kabbalraj called him back after which, it is said, without even seeking any explanation or details, the SP took him to task. Consternated at this treatment, Kabbalaj took decision to resign all of a sudden, it is being said. Kabbalraj had kept his resignation letter in the diary, left service revolver and SIM card on his table, and switched off his cellphone before leaving in a huff, sources said.

When police had planned to strike work for a day about three months, Kabbalraj, who has been sympathetic at the tribulations the police personnel are undergoing, had offered to resign. As per information, the then SP, Annamalai had convinced him to stay on.

Kabbalraj's family stays at B C Road, and the police had got information that he had reached there. His wife works as teacher in a school at Sarapadi village nearby and children too study in local school. Even after local police repeatedly visited his home there, they had not succeeded in getting clear information about his whereabouts. However, by late night, higher officials could contact him.

The SP said that he had called Kabbalraj over phone and advised him against interfering in the matter of land dispute in Airody village that is in court. In the said case, a senior citizen had accused a builder of pressurizing him through panchayat development officer to allow a road to be laid through his land. The SP had received complaint that Kabalraj was interfering in the matter on behalf of the builder.

Balakrishna said that Kabbalraj had resigned due to pressures on personal grounds. He said he had talked to the police officer and convinced him to take a couple of days off to get relieved of the pressure. However, Kabbalraj told him that he would report back on Friday itself, it is gathered.

I bet these police officers are in enormous pressure to work covert operations of politician. Our whole country could have went forward by now if the police worked independently and by the law. Corruption is cancer and caner cells wont die. Whole set up and justice system is trouble.

Nice of govt to convince him. but past history shows like DYSP shenoy they will repeat it. Mosale bantu Mosale. Convincing them back to service gives wrong signals in a dept where discipline is important.

If ur information is right then I think the police dept should not keep quiet thinking that just bcoz the inspector has withdrawn his resignation. Though the land matter might be civil in nature which is outside the jurisdiction of police dept they can carry investigation if as u said there are any illegal activities are taking place and they are harassing land owners.
