New Delhi, Sep 27 (IANS): Over 30 children with disability on Tuesday participated in the central government organised sightseeing tour of historical places and monuments in the city.

Minister of Tourism and Culture Mahesh Sharma flagged off the tour here to observe the World Tourism Day. 

"35 divyang (persons with disability) students from Class 2nd to 6th of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya School for divyang children participated in this sightseeing tour of many monuments and heritage places of Delhi," an official statement released here said.

"Accessible tourism for all is about the creation of environment that can cater to the needs of all of us, whether we are travelling or staying at home," Sharma said.

"May that be due to a disability, even temporary, families with small children, or the ageing population, at some point in our lives, sooner or later, we all benefit from universal accessibility in tourism."

September 27 is an official day set by the United Nations as World Tourism Day.
